Recycle and Donate: Your Guide to Christmas Tree Disposal in Hampton Roads

When it comes time to take down the Christmas tree yu can donate or recycle your undecorated and unflocked tree to organizations in Hampton Roads.

The Virginia Aquarium has partnered with Marine Stewards America (MSA) to collect and recycle Christmas trees in support of marine-focused conservation. Bring your Christmas tree to the aquarium’s East Parking Lot anytime from December 26 through January 6 for self-drop-off in the designated area. MSA will use the trees to restore sand dunes along our coastline, which supports our local marine ecosystem by controlling erosion, providing nutrients for beach plants, creating habitats for beach animals, and keeping waste out of the landfill! Trees must be bare and live-cut trees. This is a self-serve drop off. Learn more and register for free on their website.

In Suffolk, Compassion for Canines is accepting undecorated, tinsel/garland-free trees to use as a tasty snack for the goats!
